Published by Fr05ty 3 months ago /Battlecruiser Wednesdays: Stalingrad class Battlecruisers
Welcome to the fifth article from our Battlecruiser Wednesdays cycle! We'll be taking a look at a different battlecruiser design each wednesday and analysing how it could be implemented in-game by using our familiar "A Detailed Look At" format.
This week: I'll be taking a look at the Stalingrad class, the last class of classic battlecruisers designed in the world. The Stalingrad class was Stalin's favoured son and he heavily pushed for their construction as part of his obsession with having a big-gun navy. Designed to operate close to the Soviet naval bases, they sacrified cruising range for pure speed and firepower to ensure they were optimal cruiser killers. Stalin's death put the nail in the coffin for the Stalingrad class, but they can finally find their glory in World of Warships.
Step inside, read the article to see just how the Stalingrad class would stack up in-game and let us know what you think of this class making its way into the game!

Published by LittleWhiteMouse 4 months ago under Bogatyr /Ship Review:  Mouse in the Bogatyr
It's Friday (still!).  Mouse tallied up the votes from the responses to her Isokaze article and the Bogatyr was the most popular choice.  She comes up for air from Azeroth long enough to take a look at this tier 3 Protected Cruiser, infamous for its rivalry with the St.Louis.  Lert joins her to compare this ship to the other tier 3 cruisers.
Published by Fr05ty 4 months ago /Battlecruiser Wednesdays: O class
Welcome to the fourth article from our Battlecruiser Wednesdays cycle! We'll be taking a look at a different battlecruiser design each wednesday and analysing how it could be implemented in-game by using our familiar "A Detailed Look At" format.
This week: I'll be taking a look at the O class, the only class of battlecruisers ever designed by the Nazis. The O class was designed to raid enemy convoys to win the logistics war and force enemies into splitting their naval forces. In order to achieve such objectives, the O class were faster than any other cruiser in the Kriegsmarine and indeed would have been the fastest battlecruisers in the world. The O class were a combination of large guns and high speed that could have caused serious issues to the supply lines to Europe during World War 2.
Step inside, read the article to see just how the O's would stack up in-game and let us know what you think of this class making its way into the game!

Tier 7 is becoming a very popular tier for Premium Ships.  This one is most welcome -- the tier 7 Soviet Destroyer Leningrad.  Mouse takes a look at this newest offering from Wargaming.  So don your Soviet-bias hats and prepare to find out if this is another Gremyashchy or will it be something closer to the Krasny Krym?

Published by Lert 4 months ago /A Detailed Look At: Roofdier class destroyers
At the start of the 20th centuty the Dutch navy operated a class of eight small, turbine driven destroyers, though an argument could be made they were torpedo boats instead. These ships, bridging the gap between small torpedo-armed attack boats and the ships originally designed to counter them, is the subject of today's article.

Without further ado, let's see how and if the Roofdier class destroyers would fit into the game.
Published by LittleWhiteMouse 4 months ago under Isokaze /Ship Review:  Mouse in the Isokaze
It's Friday!  Mouse has recovered from the plague (ew) but not in time to do an in depth review of the Baltimore like everyone was asking.  Instead she offers this consolatory look at one of the tier 4 beauties: the IJN Destroyer Isokaze.  With change on the horizon for the Japanese Destroyer line, she thought it was on point to look at this potential seal clubber before it changes forever...
Published by LittleWhiteMouse 4 months ago under Prinz Eugen /Premium Ship Review:  Prinz Eugen
More German ships!  First the Scharnhorst, then the Konig Albert and now this newest offering hits the stores.  Reputed to be one of the best crew trainers in the game, this is the second premium ship to offer the option of a second camouflage scheme.  Mouse takes a belated look at the new German premium heavy cruiser, the Prinz Eugen.

Published by Lert 4 months ago /A Detailed Look At: De Zeven Provincien (1909)
A ship of the early 20th century, of a class not in this game. Slow, only two main guns and a very schizophrenic design. Is it a cruiser? Is it a battleship?

Let's see how De Zeven Provincien (1909) fits into the game, if it does at all.
Published by LittleWhiteMouse 4 months ago under Warspite /Premium Ship Review:  HMS Warspite
Mouse's favourite baby girl, the HMS Warspite gets an update.  To be fair, this is the third time Mouse has sung the praises of this ship but with good reason.  Since her review back in November of 2015, the Warspite has received a model update and the game has significantly changed.  Let's see if her old favourite still holds up with all of these fancier boats muddying up the waters.

Published by Fr05ty 4 months ago /Battlecruiser Wednesdays: HMS Hood
Welcome to the third article from our Battlecruiser Wednesdays cycle! We'll be taking a look at a different battlecruiser design each wednesday and analysing how it could be implemented in-game by using our familiar "A Detailed Look At" format.

This week: I'll be taking a look at the HMS Hood, last and mightiest of the Royal Navy's battlecruisers. The Hood is an almost mythical ship and has forever stepped into the history of the British Navy and the British people themselves. For a long time the HMS Hood was heralded as the unsinkable stalwart of the Royal Navy, commanding the respect of any who dared face upon it and remained a popular symbol of the Royal Navy's might up to its fateful demise when hunting the Bismarck.

Step inside, read the article to see just how the Hood's would stack up in-game and let us know what you think of this unique ship making its way into the game!

Published by Lert 4 months ago /A Detailed Look At: Dutch 1913 Battleship Proposal
In the early 1910s it was decided by the Dutch admiralty that there was a need for the Dutch navy to step up and take their rightful place in history. To this end, a proper Battleship, rivaling anything the major navies had afloat, was needed. As such, a design requirement was sent to various ship builders across Europe.

This article briefly discusses various designed from Armstrong and Vickers, then goes into more detail about the design that in my opinion was most viable, the Germania Werft entwurf 803.
Published by Lert 4 months ago /Battlecruiser Wednesday: Project 1047
In which I guest write for Fr05ty's Battlecruiser Wednesday series of articles, writing about the Dutch '1047' Project.

In the latter half of the 1930s, the Dutch navy was looking for a new ship to counter the Japanese heavy cruisers of he Myoukou and Takao classes. Then the Germans launched Scharnhorst, and the Dutch went 'Hey, we like the look of that.'

Published by Fr05ty 4 months ago /A Detailed Look At: Béarn
The Béarn was the first aircraft carrier possessed by the French Marine Nationale. Originally meant to be a battleship, she was converted into an aircraft carrier after the end of World War I and subsequently was in commission for 40 years. It was the only aircraft carrier the French had built by the time World War 2 started and its aircraft were outdated already. The Béarn was a unique vessel that served as the testbench for several technologies that the French Marine Nationale would use for their newer vessels and aircraft carriers. Amongst the technologies that were tested on it were the arrestor wires, hybrid propulsion technologies and twin-engine airplanes operating off of an aircraft carrier.

Throughout this article I look at how the Béarn could make its way into the game, carefully analysing every aspect of it and talking of its long and troubled history in the French Marine Nationale. The Béarn was the first vessel of its kind in service of the French people and a unique vessel, worthy of being included in World of Warships as the representative of the interwar French Naval Aviation.
