"Mouse, when are you going to update X review?"

There are so many that are in desperate need of updating and with an average 20 hour turn around time per review, it would take me literal weeks to get to every ship that's out there. So I thought I would try and do a quick summary of the changes and how this affects my opinions of each premium. I'll break these down by ship type first, then by nation within a given type. To make things easy to digest at a glance, I have come up with the following review summary:

  • OVERPOWERED - Ship is OP, plain and simple. She's a good investment.
  • Gudbote - Ship works as designed. She can be a solid performer with some distinct advantages, but she's not an overwhelming winner.
  • Blahbote - Invest in this only if you're interested in the ship for what she is, not because you expect her to help you win.
  • GARBAGE - Super competitive, caustic purple players who judge you based on your video game decisions wouldn't sail this -- why are you sailing it? Are you garbage too!?

Note: Any stealth firing window values discussed below represent a maximum stealth and range build for a given ship. Many of the ships listed could not stealth-fire without this heavy specialization which includes a 14pt Captain and the proper camouflage / module setup.

 
JAPAN

Tachibana gains 1.3km to her gun range, letting her shoot up to 8.0km. She lost a tiny stealth fire window.
Significance: This is a pretty insignificant change. It takes 9 seconds for Tachibana's shells to reach 8km, so adding the range isn't really doing her many favours. Tachibana was never known for her guns. These changes have not affected the ship appreciably.
Verdict:

Kamikaze-class (Fujin, Kamikaze R, Kamikaze) gained 1km of range and lost the ability to stealth fire from a 100m window.
Significance:
This is a small buff to these ships. They never could stealth fire with any reliability before and the extra range is nice -- it's like a free Advanced Fire Training skill.

Shinonome loses a 900m stealth firing window.
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.

Iwaki Alpha was not touched in 0.6.3

Katori received a small cosmetic update (yay!). Enemy carriers can no longer manual drop torpedoes.
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion -- she never really worried about carriers.

Yubari was not touched in 0.6.3. Enemy carriers can no longer manual drop torpedoes.
Significance:

Atago lost a 600m stealth firing window.
Significance:
While difficult to manage, this did allow Atago to bombard enemy battleships with impunity in very limited scenarios.

Mikasa had her range increased by 2.3km!
Significance:
One of Mikasa's biggest weaknesses was her short range -- she could be easily outstripped by even contemporary cruisers. While this change does mitigate one weakness, it's not enough to make up for her lack of firepower and her struggling accuracy. While this is a buff, it does not make Mikasa a gudbote. At least she can still farm Close Quarters Expert medals.
Verdict:

Ishizuchi had her range increased from 12.9km to 15.3km and her surface detection range dropped from 16.6km to 15.2km. Enemy carriers can no longer manual drop torpedoes.
Significance:
This is an enormous buff to Ishizuchi which before struggled with an enormous surface detection range that far outstripped her gun range. Overall, this makes her a much more attractive choice. She's still a fragile Battleship, but she's now able to setup ambush shots and prevent herself from being kited. This changes Ishizuchi from blahbote to gudbote.

Significance:

UNITED STATES

Smith got a cosmetic update (yay),
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.
Verdict:

Sims lost a 5.0km stealth-firing window.
Significance:
Sims had one of the largest potential stealth firing windows of any mid tier destroyer. Her ability to bombard enemies at range unseen was nice, but she was better known for her ability to duel at close range. Much ado will be made about this loss, but she's always been an overspecialized duelist anyway with anemic hitting power at anything beyond very close range.

Black lost an 8.3km stealth-firing window
Significance:
High tier American destroyers were rather good at landing hits on enemies without being seen, but not terribly good at dealing damage with said hits. It was very easy for these ships to steatlh-fire, even accidentally. When rigged for stealth, it was possible to do so against targets even a modest 9.7km. However, given the horrible ballistics of these guns, it was unlikely that stealth firing was effectively done to anything beyond 12km. Black takes a slight hit to efficacy from 0.6.3, but not enough to demote the ship from the monstrosity that she is.

Albany had her range increased by 700m to 9.1km. She also received a cosmetic update (yay).
Significance:
Albany hasn't been a decent ship since like ... ever. The buffs are welcome but they can't save this blingbote.

Marblehead had her range increased by 1.2km to 13.9km.
Significance:
OMG, Marblehead is almost as good as Murmans -- haha, I can't even finish typing that.
Verdict:

Atlanta was not touched in 0.6.3.
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.
Verdict:
(same) GARBAGE (and you're wrong for loving her! ESPECIALLY YOU! That's right! I said it! I'm kidding, of course. She's a Blahbote)

Indianapolis received a small cosmetic upgrade (yay).
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.
Verdict:

Flint was not touched in 0.6.3.
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.

Arkansas Beta had her range increased by 2.3km to 14.4km. Enemy carriers can no longer manually drop ordinance.
Significance:
The range boost is nice but it's the nerf to enemy carrier drops that makes this ship really appealing now.

Texas had her range increased by almost 900m.
Significance:
This is a small, nice buff. It won't help her against tier 7 opponents, though, so watch out for that tier 5 Matchmaking.

Arizona was not touched in 0.6.3
Significance:

Alabama had her citadel lowered.
Significance:
Despite what ship-Jesus may have said, she was always a gudbote. This doesn't push her into the realms of being OP, though she is arguably better than North Carolina now with better active defense abilities.

Missouri was not touched in 0.6.3
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.

Saipan had so much that changed. First, her combat interface was overhauled. Second, her fighters can now disengage from unfavourable fights and if THAT wasn't enough, they don't lose an aircraft for doing so unlike every other carrier in the game (wat!?).
Significance:
Just wow. Kaga had better be pretty darned amazing to compete with Saipan, cause Saipan just got hella troll with her fighters.

SOVIET UNION

Gremyashchy lost a 4.3km stealth firing window.
Significance:
Gremyashchy used to have the ability (when properly specialized) to stealth fire from as little as 10km away from targets. Arguably one of the most likely candidates to be doing obscene things to baby seals like stoving their heads in with cheeky tactics, losing her window gives the Gremyashchy a well deserved kick. However, it's not enough to call this ship balanced by the changes. She's a tier 5 Anshan with much better agility and better guns. She's not hurting at all in 0.6.3.

Okhotnik had a small graphic's fix.
Significance:

Leningrad lost a 1.4km stealth firing window.
Significance:
Stealth firing her guns was a nice feature of Leningrad, but she was better known (and appreciated) for her ability to stealth fire her torpedoes -- which she has retained.

Diana received a small cosmetic update (yay!).
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.

Aurora received a small cosmetic update (yay!). Enemy carriers can no longer manual drop torpedoes.
Significance:
It's nice not to have to dodge carriers so much, but Aurora didn't have to worry about them really.

Oleg received a small cosmetic update (yay!). Enemy carriers can no longer manual drop torpedoes.
Significance:
It's nice not to have to dodge carriers so much.

Murmansk was not touched in 0.6.3.
Significance:

Krasny Krym gains an extra 500m onto her gun range.
Significance:
This is a rather nice buff for Krasny Krym, giving her a little more breathing room that she can put between herself and the enemy. This doesn't make her a gudbote though (or even shift her up to a blahbote), but every little bit helps.

Molotov was not touched in 0.6.3.
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.

Mikhail Kutuzov lost a 2.3km stealth firing window.
Signifiance:
Russian guns had great ballistics at range and losing the stealth firing option from the Kutuzov would hurt if she didn't have one of the best cruiser smoke generators in the game (second only to Flint).
Verdict:

Imperator Nikolai I Enemy carriers can no longer manually drop torpedoes.
Significance:
Nikolai just got better. Her biggest weakness were destroyer and aircraft carriers. Now this seal clubber doesn't have to worry so much about the latter.

UNITED KINGDOM

Campbeltown got a cosmetic update (yay), Enemy carriers can no longer manually launch ordinance.
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion, though she won't have to worry so much about seal clubbing CVs.
Verdict:

Belfast lost a 2.1km stealth firing window.
Significance:
Belfast was one of those premiums that could stealth fire right out of the box. I'm sure someone, somewhere out there will try and justify her lack of torpedoes as a dependence on stealth firing to compensate. I don't buy it. She's still a destroyer assassin par excellence.

Significance:

GERMANY

Emden had her ranged increased by 1km.
Significance:
This is a nice quality of life change for Emden, but it's not a game changed by any means. With Advanced Fire Training, you can now get her range up to 11.9km which adds a measure of security, but you're still going to feel outgunned by just about anything you face.

Admiral Graf Spee was not touched in 0.6.3.
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.

Prinz Eugen was not touched in 0.6.3.
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.
Verdict:

König Albert Maximum range increased by 1km. Enemy carriers can no longer manually drop torpedoes.
Significance:
This is an overall buff to an already overpowered premium.

Scharnhorst was not touched in 0.6.3
Significance:
0.6.3 did not change this ship in any appreciable fashion.

Tirpitz was not touched in 0.6.3
Significance:

POLAND

Blyskawica lost a 4.0km stealth firing window.
Significance:
This was one of the largest potential stealth firing windows out of the mid tier premiums and Blyskawica is (IMO), the ship most hit by these changes. However, she remains an excellent destroyer even despite the loss, with a hard hitting broadside of guns and the ability to stealth-fire torpedoes.

PAN ASIA

Anshan lost a 2.1km stealth firing window.
Significance:
Like Gremyashchy, this was a good gun bombardment vessel. The loss of stealth firing is a bit of a hit, but not a crippling one.

Lo Yang lost a 4.3km stealth firing window.
Significance:
As an American based ship, Lo Yang's ability to bombard enemies at range while undetected was quite easy to do -- even accidentally. The changes in 0.6.3 will make her more visible. However, it should be noted that her guns were only ever truly effective at close range and unreliable at dealing damage to larger ships outside of their (low) chance to start fires.

Dunkerque had her float plane fighter buffed and received a cosmetic upgrade (yay!)
Significance:
You're really not going to feel the float plane improvement, but hey, a buff is a buff.
