Also, anyone can offer to help anyone else who needs coverage but especially cruiser captains should. While the job of a DD is to act as fleet scout for enemies, counter to enemy DD's, and be the hunter-killer of BB's and CV's the cruiser's job is to cover the very ships the DD is after. Cruisers can cover a DD trying to cap, they can counter enemy DD's and CL's especially that are looking to stop your DD, they can escort BB's or CV's and are the ship to run back and reset a cap. Yet many noob cruiser captains like to run off like they are DD's and YOLO till they are sunk.

BB's can also group up with other BB's, they can and should ask for CL/CA help, or offer to lead a group to a cap. Don't ask or expect a BB to cap though, that's death but they can push on a flank or opening with support to provide those killing blows to finish off the enemies that are playing rear guard. BB's may be good for slugging it out with other BB's but their first targets should be enemy cruisers. Strip the enemy BB's of their coverage and then let your allies all pour fire and torps on that BB, especially if it is of higher tier than your BB.

Finally, as mentioned, a little courtesy goes a long way and a thank you to a comrade that sacrificed his ship for the cause (especially if he saved your bacon) builds teamwork.

Try been a cv especially if I'm taking my tier 10 out, you know that first strike and often strikes after that are against you (worse if its a 4 cv game) and you watch all those heavily AA armed cruisers just sailing away even though they can see the endless mass of enemy squadrons attacking you.

sadly I have to agree with you I have often stayed with a CV through such a match till the end and was thanked for it by him. Shame not many others do it

Depending upon the level one plays at, their team might not realize their roles as much. Kills are very nice, but the key is playing for XP and Credits. Those are maximized to the winners of the Match. Too many folks forget that key point. The strategy differs a little based upon the game mode as well.
When I am in a DD, I always go for the closest cap, announcing my intentions in team chat ASAP. If I am close to B, I go to B. It's better to have two caps at the start of a match than just one.
When I am in a CL/CA, I will orbit as close as possible between A/B or B/C, to be able to support either side, should a DD need the help.
When I am in a AA Cruiser like the Atlanta, Cleveland, or Mikhail Kutuzov, I try and stick close to the CV at first, and after follow up with the BB.
Some battles, there is very little communication, some there is lots of positive communication, and sadly, too many have a toxic team chat window.

what team play is in this game is easier to recognize when you see it than it is to define.

people are not going to take damage for you, and good enemies won't shoot at other ships if you're vulnerable.

If you and 2 others from your team meet 3 equivalent enemies and you steam into them while your teammates turn away, its easy from your perspective to say they didnt support you but on the flip side you also failed to recognize their move. It happens especially if your focused on your reticule. Its easy to feel like the sacrificial lamb.

The truth is turning away from charging enemies while they are in range maintains your hit% while decreasing theirs at the same time. (Now, if your friends arent engaging at all, thats a problem.)

The one constant in every match though is that its up to you to preserve your hit points as much as possible and do as much damage as you can. Avoid hp for hp exchanges and seek engagements where you do at least 2 to 1 damage. If you can't do that or don't expect to when approaching the range of enemy ships, reconsider.

My two cents!!

I am so glad this topic was brought up...It is so bad I have friends who have gotten so frustrated they stopped playing.

Let me st the stage b4 I hop on my soapbox...

I am a 54 year old male and before you young'us start in with the LOL an old man OMG lame noob etc...

I was playing computer games b4 most of you were born so lighten up Francis. I was also on the internet when it was first born so I got that going for me.

I have been playing this game for a few months now and I have several tier 8 boats and everything in between. Yes I have spent money and yes I have bought and paid for ships from the website...whats your point. When I go into battle in my New Mexico I am not expecting to have to cap 3 bases. When I play it seems tthat nobody understands that this is a team oriented game...there are tactics yes but there are also basic things you do i,e, capture a base if you can. I see everyone going to kill the CV and we have no caps...wtf? Yes I have lost my temper and yelled and screamed but it's just wasted energy. Here is my take on things. First off coop battles have gotten a bad name as being for noobs and idiots. News flash guys...THERE ARE OTHER REAL PEOPLE WHO PLAY THIS GAME AND THEY HAVE A DIFFERENT COMPUTER THAN YOU DO. I mean really? You are going to take time to type out an insult about the way a complete stranger is hitting different keys on his keyboard than you are? Ok but why? Just because its different does not mean its a bad game mode. I liken it to a fireteam match. I like them. Team battles are only for the elite upper management of the internet warship club...any player who does not play the way we do is an idiot merc who is so crappy he cant even get in a guild. Ok everyone who has NEVER tried to go into a team battle alone step forward..........crickets. I have started typing this in b4 everybattle...

"FYI...you will get more XP and credits if you capture a base."

Works about 70% of the time. I get about 1 thank you to every 5 stfu moron replys. At least I try.
This has turned into a longer post than I thought it would so I will just leave it here for your reading pleasure.

fakeedit1: Please if you reply be nice. I am also a disabled person and am totally blind in my left eye so b4 you shout at me about not getting any better by playing coops please remember that I am limited to what I can do. I was playing MOH long b4 you were and used to be an ace. I play to have fun and really dont care about KDR at all...life changes you the longer you live it.

Peace

Hi, like you I am an older player (59) I ignore them, it seems if you kill some one who expects to win or kill you then you are open to abuse. Similar if you buy a prem ship (which I di do as I am a collector as well as a player)

Feel free to look me up in game same name in game, although currently out of action for a few weeks after a car crash, but willing to join you when better
